2 flags and necessity of posting/retiring the colors
Hello! New here! Look forward to some knowledgeable replies.
We had an Veteran's assembly recently that struck me as wrong, am seeking if I am correct or not or if it's just personal opinion and what verification I can use as I go into a discussion on flag etiquette.
We had veterans carry out and post into a standing flag holder the U.S flag at beginning of ceremony. Right afterwards, scouts carried out another U.S flag, stood holding it, and asked everyone to rise for pledge of allegiance. Afterwards, the boys departed carrying their flag, which was never posted.
At assembly end, there was absolutely no ceremony or recognition given as the vets then removed their flag and walked out.
So my questions are: If colors are honorably posted at beginning, must they absolutely always be retired at end of event/gathering? And if one U.S. flag is posted should ever ever ever a second U.S. flag be carried in to pledge allegiance to? And if a U.S. flag is carried in, should it ever be carried right back out again?
I salute not only our flag but those of you participating on this site. Thank you.
