Exclamation 3 Flag Desk Dispay - What Order?

I purchased three minature flags and a walnut desk stand. The flags are:
The US flag - which I'm a citizen of.
The German flag - which is where my family imigrated from.
The Holy See (Vatican State) flag - because I'm Roman Catholic.

No I would think the US flag would go in the middle but a friend said the Holy See flag should because God comes before country...is that true?

How should I place the flags?

Right now, facing me I have the US in the middle, Holy See on my right and Germany on my left?

PLEASE HELP! Thanks a million!

Eddie W.

Default Re: 3 Flag Desk Dispay - What Order?

welcome to usa flag forum!

are the poles all of the same height??

if so- as you look at them-

LEFT - US FLAG
MIDDLE- GERMAN FLAG
RIGHT- VATICAN STATE FLAG

US is the country you were born in (assuming) and reside in- so the US flag goes on the left as you look at it (on its own right)

then put the German flag in the middle ... - if you put the Vatican flag in the midddle then it might seem that it is more inportant than Germany and less important than the US

then put the Vatican on the right as you look at it...

The only time when any other flag can take precidence over the US flag

section 7c of the flag code states- 'No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. '

in accordance with that piece from the flag code your friend is incorrect

if the stand is raised in the middle... and makes the central pole higher than the other 2 this would be the order

LEFT - GERMAN FLAG
MIDDLE - US FLAG
RIGHT- VATICAN

hope this helps - anymore questions please don't hesitate to ask
