| Hi All, My name is John and I live in Lond Island NY. It is great to be a new member of USA Flag. I recently just purchased a flag that sounds alot like the one that was posted on 3/7/09 by fellow USA Flag member newblue44. Can anyone shed some light on this type of flag, and is newblue44 still a member. I would be interested in comparing the two flags.

| All, I moved the two preceding posts here from the "New Member Intro" section, so that the discussion of S&S22's flag won't get tangled up with the intros. And now, back to your regularly scheduled Forum . . . Peter Ansoff Forum Admin

| "Can you please tell me how to post pictures on the site." Go to the bottom of this thread and click "Post Reply." (NOT "Post Quick Reply") That will give you a box to put your message in. At the top of that box are some icons, one of which is a paperclip that you can use to attach a photo. Try that and see if it works. Nick

| Hi, Thanks for posting those pics. I saw that flag when it appeared on eBay. Woolen bunting with cotton stars and heading. Made 1877-1889. Very common size for flying from buildings. Is there any information printed or written on the heading? Did you get any provenance with the flag? If not then there is very little chance of determining where the flag was used as there were tens, if not hundreds of thousands of flags made during the 38-star flag era. I have examples ranging in size from less than two inches long to about 20 feet long. I also have one very similar to yours. Paid $225 for it about 20 years ago as it was in superior condition. Nick

| Hello, My name is Stevan 10yrs. ago I acquired a 10', 38 star, 13 stripe flag. Just recently I've tried to research this flag online and can't seem to fine one. The stars are arranged differently. Viewing them vertically they start with 4/5/5/5/5/5/5/4. All stars are directly over one another. Not staggered. The hanging border is 2" canvas, w/ 3 brass eyelets. stenciled on the border is Patented April 26, 1870. 10-FT. On other side of border is, P.V.T.-1941, VAIL+,the word Shedd is hand-written. Also there is A 1x4 Hand sewn tag with hand writing I can't make out. I think it says Gray because I see some faint writing that looks like Gray 32nd on opposite side. Hope this isn't to confusing.
