Re: 44 Star Large Flag
.
Hello, KBDayton !
Welcome to the USA-Flag-Site Forums !
In all likelyhood, the handwritten "HMS" were the initials of one of the Flag's owners. Perhaps if you check your "Family Tree" you'll find someone with the initials "HMS".
If you've read through any of the other threads and posts in these Forums that deal with identifying Flags, especially older Flags, you'll have a pretty good idea of some of the information that we look for, and that ALWAYS includes requests for pictures of the Flag in question.
A few of the things we'll want to know are the Flag's size, what type of fabric, construction details, what type of Stars were used, background information (history of the Flag), etc. And of course, pictures of the Flag. Include some "Close-Ups" of the construction details such as the Stars, the "Header" ("white" canvas strip where the grommets are located), stitches, hems, etc.
In short tell us what you "know" about your Flag and what it looks like and include some photos of it.
Looking forward to hearing back from you !!!
