46 Star Flag - What to do with it??

I have a 46 star flag (lots of moth holes) that belonged to my grandparents. What should I do with it? Do I retire it because of the moths holes? I know that this flag was only made for a few years so maybe it should go somewhere? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Mauigirl,
Welcome to the forum! I am of the opinion that you should keep it regardless of the moth damage. If you could post a picture or send me a picture that I can post we can assess the damage. May email is emmalpass(at)yahoo.com You probably don't want to professionally have it preserved, too expensive. I would use a large 2 gal Zip-Lock bag to store it to prevent further moth damage. If the damage is not too severe you might be able to sell it.

Unless you have a financial interest, I would consider donating this flag to a Museum, with the caveat that it be properly prevented from further damage by a flag curator, and put on display.

Greetings DrVic! Could you send me a picture of your flag. While 46 star flags are collectable in good condition they are not so rare where a museum might want to display it. How large is your flag? It would be nice if we could access the flag.
