| I am looking to find the value of a 48 star flag. It was given to me some years ago from my grandfather. It was made by the pace corporation, san juan, puerto rico. It is cotton material. It is 5 ft. X 9 1/2 ft. The stars are made of the same cotton material and sewn on. I'd like to find out approx. how old it is and the value. Please help!

A flag marked "Pace Corporation" was discussed earlier in this forum: Pace Corporation 48 star flag However, neither the participants in that discussion, nor I, have ever heard of a flagmaker by the name of Pace Corporation. They may have been a flag retailer or distributor located in Puerto Rico. Your flag probably dates from the 1940's or 1950's. But even if you could find evidence that your flag was made between World Wars I and II it would not alter the value to any significant degree. Nick

| Razorback1, Is there any way you could send us pictures of the flag showing us the flag and the Pace stamp? If you want to send them to me I can prep the pictures to the correct size and format to post. My email is emmalpass "at" yhaoo "dot" com. In any case you have a wonderful flag with applique stars which flagmakers don't do any more.

| not meaning any disrespect, but the 48 star flag has no value here. we celebrated last year the flying of the 49 star flag here in alaska...50 years!!!

Since the 48-star flag represents Alaska's final 47 years as a territory striving to achieve parity with the other states I can see where you might not feel as much reverence towards it as you do the 49-star flag. Did Alaskans fly their 50-year old 49's or was someone making new ones for the occasion? Nick

| That's is very cool, each state can fly their appropriate flag on the anniversary. Maybe Hawaii can celebrate by flying the 50 star... oh wait nevermind. |
