    Default 48 star flag with leather stars

    we have inherited a large 48 star flag, possibly from great grandads' funeral, which appears to have leather stars. They are sewn along all edges and through the middle creating a pentagon shape. is this unusual? I've never seen this before, any comments welcome, Thank you
