Default 48 stars

Hello- new to the forum. Thank you in advance.

I found this flag in the basement of our new house. The house was built in 1926 and I am the third owner.

The flag was in an old boy scout flag box.
Their are 48 stars.
The flag is a on a wooden stick that screws together to another wooden stick.

Pics are included. I can add more if that will help.

I am looking for the age of the flag.

Thank you again,
RB

Hello Ryebread,
Since the 48 star flag was used from 1912 to 1959 and had a standardized pattern for at least the last 46 of those 47 years, there isn't much to go on when trying to date the flag itself. If it has a brand name of cotton bunting printed on the box or the flag's heading you might be able to narrow the date down a bit, but sewn flags of lightweight cotton bunting were common throughout most of that same time period. Check the box to see if there is a copyright or other date on it, or reference to a president or some other timely reference (like WWI or WWII or Korean War, FDR's Recvery Association, etc.)
Regards,
Nick
