I have just found this site, and decided it was a good place for me. I still love the flag and all that it represents. I grew up when we said the pledge with our hands on our hearts. I am glad to have found this place.
I wanted to find out why the flags have been lowered all around my area, but thus far haven't found an answer. I am in the Kansas City, KS area.

When I googled "kansas city" governor flags half-staff april 2010 I found this:

St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Flags ordered half-staff for fallen St. Louis policeman
Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered all U.S. and Missouri flags to be at half-staff on all government buildings in St. Louis.


Looks like flags at the other end of the state were likewise in mourning.
