| H.K., Section 2(a) of the U.S. Flag Code states "It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness." I would consider your question tricky. On one hand the flag is still outside, though it's not in the open. Being "under cover" is an important military term and should exempt your flag from requiring lighting at night, since technically it is not truly exposed. Weighing the options, I'd say you are safe leaving it displayed overnight so long as it's not suffering rain or snow, etc.
