Hello all,
Just received this 45-star 6'x10' flag I won in eBay. It's in fair condition; several small holes and few tears, but overall I think it looks great. Huge; only place I could lay it out was on my bed. Corners by the grommets are reinforced. Sewn stars on both sides. What I can make out reads: 6x10 Double Warp American Made. "Double Warp" is printed inside a penant type image. Can anyone tell me more about it? Age? Manufacturer? The seller thought it an interment flag, but it's the wrong size, no?
Thanks in advance,
AP

The age is the easy part - 1896-1908. The photo below, taken from a flagmaker's catalog, gives you the other info you asked for, and if I do say so myself, it wasn't easy. It has taken 40 years of collecting flags, flag books, flag manufaturer catalogs, etc., etc., and an interest in sharing this collection with others, to be able to come up with this pic: DoubleWarp.jpg
The American Flag Manufacturing Company was located in Easton, Pennsylvania. The factory is now long gone but they left a lot of advertising material behind. Well actually flag advertising from the late 19th century to WW I era is extremely scarce, but I have managed to track down a few items over the years.
