America is supposed to be a land of many different cultures, but how can it be when people like you want everyone to conform to the official language when they may want to speak a different language? Why should English be the official language anyway? You know in Arizona, the official languages are English and Spanish, and WHY NOT????

Well, one of the founding principles of our country is that states, cities and other political units can use the democratic process to decide how to govern themselves. I'm sure that some people consider that "radical," but it's how things work here in the USA. Not everbody agrees with every decision, but that's the price we pay for living in a free, self-governing society.

You know before people post you would hope they would get their facts straight. Its no wonder people who think like this have no idea what they are talking about. They just start writing and start talking without having facts.

English is the ONLY official language of the State of Arizona.

Prop 103 passed in Nov. of 06. English is the ONLY official language of Arizona.

I see. So "Pete" you are a adminstrator for this flag site right? I take it you like the US flag correct? So if we get enough people together and vote to change the US flag to a completely different one that is ok right? By any chance do you belong to the ACLU? Over 30 states have passed English as the official language of their states.

Again Pete to repeat what I and so many others have said. These people are comming HERE not the other way around. They conform to this countrys standards not the other way around. Free does not mean "anarchy". I think you get the two confused.

I didn't just start writing, i found it out somewhere. I guess that the place i found that out was mistaken, but the arizona thing isn't the point. the point is that people should speak whatever language they want.

Thats right. Again some nuts feel that by saying the USA should have a official language like other countries that its saying no one has the freedom to speak other languages. Again follow here. We have to have a common language which over 30 states have realized. If you wish to speak French at home--fine! If you wish to speak Spanish at home--fine!

But to translate government business for people who do not know English is unacceptable. We have a langauge here in the USA its called English. Some of you people take diversity to a whole new level. Tylenol is good for a headache does that mean you take 8 tons of it when you have one? This is common sense. These people as I have pointed out time again ARE COMMING HERE NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

Yes, of course -- that is the way our government works. The law that defines the flag has been changed twice since it was orginally adopted. In each case, the change was made by the representatives of the people (Congress and the President, in this case). I personally like the flag the way it is, and would not favor changing it unless it was for a pretty good reason. However, my opinion is not the only one that counts.

Actually, I was never even saying that government should translate things for people. Jenny said that it annoyed her when she heard people speaking Spanish in that hallways at her school, and that is what annoyed me.
