    Default Anchors Away

Why would you have the US Marines Song "Halls of Montazuma" without the US Navy song, "Anchors Away." As a former member of the US Navy I am a little offended by the leaving out of this classic patriotic song. Don't forget what M.A.R.I.N.E. stands for . jk.

    OOH RAH!!

As I'm sure you know, the title of the Navy's song is actually "Anchor's Aweigh," not "Away." "Aweigh" means "hanging" (putting weight on the anchor chain), which happens when the anchor is raised from the bottom. The terminology is confusing, because a ship is said to be "under way" when it is not anchored or moored. So the anchor is "aweigh" when you get "under way."

Don't forget what M.A.R.I.N.E. stands for

    What does it stand for??

    Best,
