Annin Reliance 48 star flag with initials H.V.G

I recently aquired another Annin Reliance 48 star flag (not in hand yet) that has the initials H.V.G. Does anyone have a clue as to what this might be? I'll post pics of it on Monday when I have it in hand.

Sorry, but don't have a clue yet. Are the initials printed, stenciled, or hand-written?

I got the flag today and it is a nice one that has retained it's canton color. The stars are printed and the stripes are sewn. The initials H.V.G. are hand written on the hoist near the Annin Reliance tag. I'm guessing possibly the original owners intitials, maybe a veterans flag. Ill post some pics when I get up.

Nice flag Christopher. I have a about 5 older flags (48, 46, 45 star) that have initials on them. Maybe a common practice back then?
