| No. The US flag must be be largest and highest flag. Though other flags can be the same size and the same height, none may be larger or higher than the US flag. Janine

| Is there an official reference that the US flag must be as larger as or larger than other flags? I am not debating this, I would just like to see an official reference in case I need to convince others. Thanks MA

| I guess the text doesn't say anything about size, only position and height. I think size is implied. US Code 36§175 See: USFlag.org: A website dedicated to the Flag of the United States of America - United States Code Scroll down to see especially: §175. Position and manner of display Janine

| yeah the US flag must be at the top of the pole but it wouldent look right if any flag flown beneath it was larger it would look a bit odd.... flag under us flag should be same size or ssmaller

| Janing: I guess the text doesn't say anything about size, only position and height. I think size is implied. US Code 36§175 This is half right. Section 7g of the code does say that other national flags displayed with the US flag should be approximately the same size. The word "approximately" allows for the fact that many foreign flags have different official proportions from the US flag. The British and Canadian flags, for example, are 1:2, while ours is 10:19. The code does not address the size of flags other than national flags, but a common sense interpretation would say that Janie and af_uk are correct -- they shouldn't be larger than the US flag if the two are displayed together. BTW, the reference to the flag code on the USFlag.org site, and Janie's reference to 36-175, are obsolete. The paragraphs of the US Code that deal with flag display were transferred from Title 36 to Title 4 in 1994, although the wording was not changed. A good place to find the up-to-date version is at the Cornell Law School web site here: LII: U.S. Code: Home The section dealing with the flag is Title 4, Chapter 1. Regards, Peter Ansoff
