I was wondering under your history section why you did not mention bob...

I was wondering under your history section why you did not mention Bob
Heft? He is the person that the last flag was made by. It was a school
project. I am from Napoleon, OH, and this is the reason I know this.
He was once our mayor.

Bob Heft, now 64 and a retired school teacher, is credited with designing the present 50 star American Flag as a high school junior back in 1958, when the U.S. had only 48 states. Heft's flag was made as a history class project, and it garnered him a B-minus from his teacher. His teacher, however, promised him that he would consider boosting his grade if Heft could get his flag accepted in the nation's capital. Hawaii and Alaska were subsequently added as states 49 and 50, Heft began a strong marketing campaign and the rest is history.
