Once again, we'd like to wish all our Canadian friends the best on their national day. The Maple Leaf flag is a real beauty, eh?

    Yes, Happy Canada Day!

Saying that brings back wonderful memories of trips to Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto, and Niagara Falls.

    Robin, no picture?

Just so our friends up North don't feel left out:

On 1 July 1867, the British North American Act united the British colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the "Province of Canada" into a new nation, the Dominion of Canada. Happy Canada Day to our friends and colleagues north of the border! We'll be flying our maple leaf proudly today.

And here's a pic of a flag showing the original four-province badge. Beginning in 1870, many flagmakers, without any authorization, added arms to this badge to represent the additional provinces until about WW I you had Canadian Red Ensigns with 9-Province badges! Quite a mess, really. In 1921 Canada was granted their current coat-of-arms which was used with only minor variations until the Maple Leaf was adopted in 1965.
