My 5x7 nylon flag was covered in mold...

Dear Dixie,
It is great that you wish to be as respectful as possible to your flag. I cannot see the flag for myself, but if the flag's color is only very slightly tinged (unnoticable unless very close) it should still be acceptable for display. The relevant section of the flag code states that it should be destroyed once it is "no longer a fitting emblem for display." So, if your flag is now Red, Light Blue, and Blue, you should probably dispose of it in a dignified manner as it has reached the end of its service. It is quite suitable to mend your flag however, perhaps the careful application of some bleach?
