Is it fair to tell who's a patriot and who's not just because on one's passport?
There is a big issue that I am deeply concerned about. I have emailed all of the U.S. Senators, all of the U.S. Governors and several major newspapers regarding this but I’m sure most of them haven't even got the email as it probably went to junk on the secretary level.
Pretty much the only reply I received was from Gov. Ted Strickland, OH. He said he cannot affect the issue directly but he would forward my message to several senators. It's been several months and I did not receive any replies from them. And I really need somebody’s attention. Please believe me.
I’m 22 and I was born and reside in Europe. But in every single aspect of my personality, my life, my way of thinking, I am an American and a true American patriot. Every single day outside the United States gets me upset more and more from the realization that this is not where I belong, this is not who I am. When I go to Wisconsin that I really love, or any other place in the U.S., I feel like this is where I belong. Not because it's the U.S. is a dream country for many. This is a much deeper feeling. I feel just like if I was born there.
I speak perfect American English with no accent whatsoever. It just came naturally like it’s something that I always knew.
Nearly the only kind of music I can tolerate is American country music, bluegrass country and some others.
When I hear the Star Spangled Banner, it is incredible how much pride I feel, and I stand up, put my hand to my heard and sing along. I also have a 3'x5' American flag right here in my room. And I would consider myself a true American patriot.
There’s so many aspects to this, it's impossible to describe it in one message. But I am ready to give this testimony and prove it to the best of my abilities in front of the court of law, the congress, or any other institution.
Yes, I have a U.S. visitor visa so I can visit the United States whenever I please, but I cannot get a job in the U.S., I cannot go to a college, I cannot open a company, I cannot do anything. With the current immigration politics it’s not easy at all to become a U.S. resident unless I am a top level programmer with 10 years of experience or something like that. Which I am not. And this upsets me even more. Just makes me want to say “look at me, I am an American! I am not an immigrant!”. But no one would listen. And I am really not an immigrant. The United States is my home, it’s the land that I love and that’s how I feel about.
I want to be in a part of the United States, a part of its culture. To proudly serve this beautiful country and enjoy every single day of my life, being a true American patriot. To wave the flag on my front yard and do all I can to make this country better.
No words would be enough to describe all I feel. To describe all my love for this country.
It makes me sad seeing many current immigrants that would rather put their home country flag at their homes than the United States flag. That live in places like Brooklyn, NY simply because “that’s where all the immigrants are”. Yes, it is their right to do so, but when I compare this to my situation, it makes me sad. I don’t think there are many immigrants that would want to live in a small town in Kentucky or Wisconsin or any other state for that matter. But I do. To wave the flag on be a proud citizen. A true patriot.
I don't want you to think that my opinion is that being a patriot is just about having a flag and knowing the Anthem. I want to devote my whole life to the United States. To serve in the U.S. Army. To do all I can to make this country better. Every single day of my life.
And I feel that this is not right to ignore me just because I have a wrong passport. I deserve to be a U.S. citizen.
I am begging you to do all you can to help me reach someone who could help me. Please relate my story to your local senator, mayor, or anyone who would be able to do at least something about it. Please help me. And please believe me.
I would disclose my name and provide any other information to anyone who would ask for it for any purpose that might help me.
Please help a true patriot.
