Farewell to President Kaczynski Like everyone else, we were shocked to hear about the tragic death of Lech Kaczynski, the President of Poland, along with his wife and several other Polish officials, in a plane crash on April 10th. Mr. Kaczynski was an anti-communist dissident who had served as President since 2006. He was staunch supporter of good relations with the USA, and also a friend of Poland's Jewish community.
A mourner outside of the presidental palace in Warsaw was quoted as saying "You can look around the street here, and half the people would not vote for Kaczynski. But they are here because he was our president. It is patriotism."
Enough said?
