Flag as Gift - OK?
My neighbor across the street has a flagpole with an American Flag on it. The flag is old and tattered and this neighbor has always been very nice, friendly, and helpful to us. I want to do something nice for them and though maybeI could get them a new flag and offer to help dispose of the old one.
He is retired Army and very proud to have served the US. I don't want to offend him in any way, so I thought I would check here first to see what you all think of this idea.
Thanks!

Thanks for the idea! I will definitely look into that. I will probably order several for gifts. Thanks

.
Greetings, CasperGal !
Welcome to the USA-Flag-Site Forums !!!
Nick, that is an EXCELLENT recommendation !!!
I checked, but I didn't see anything about an extra $4.00 for postage.
What I did find, for example, at Rep. Peter DeFazio (D - Oregon) was a 3'x5' NYLON Flag (embroidered Stars and sewn Stripes) costs $9.00, and to have it flown over the Capitol on a particular date costs $4.05 extra. Total = $13.05 !!!
Senator John Barrasso (R - Wyoming) Same Flag is $13.00, plus $4.05 for flying & certificate. Total = $17.05
Either way, it's a pretty good deal. Well..... pretty good except for one small "problem".....
If you want your Flag flown on a specific date, your request needs to get there W-A-Y in advance. THEN, you need to be VERY patient while waiting for it to come in the mail.
But if time is "no problem"..... GO FOR IT !!!
UPDATE : I just checked and BOTH of Oregon's Senators have the $4.00 S&H as additional fees for the Flags ordered.
ALSO : For specific dates 8-10 weeks in advance PLUS 4-6 weeks after flying to get them !!!
Hmmmm..... maybe I should order 100 Flags from Rep. DeFazio to be flown on 9-11-2011 ???

Other countries do not let their flag be used for fun or something, but hey it is a good idea
