Default Incorrect Flag display

Dear Charles on the U.S. Dept of Veteran's Affairs website, guidelines regarding how to fly the American flag are listed. What you have seen is absolutely incorrect. The link to the webpage is: Guidelines for Display of the Flag - Public and Intergovernmental Affairs. And in regards to being displayed with flags from other nations it states: "When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace."

From what I can locate, no specific U.S. government body specifically oversees flag display errors. However, it was the U.S. military that began the process and a National Flag Conference was convened in 1923 to address issues regarding consistent standards in displaying the American flag. With that in mind, I would contact either the U.S. Embassy or U.S. military base closest to you and ask for assistance. But the easiest thing, may just be to give the information (from the link above) to the folks who are flying the flags incorrectly. Hopefully, they can make the correction themselves.

Good Luck,
Kim
