Default Flag flown over US Capitol

Just a brief word on my latest acquisition:

This weekend, at a charity silent auction I won a US Flag that was flown over the US Capitol. It is a 3x5 cotton flag and came packaged with a certificate "signed" by machine I'm sure, by my Congressperson. The certificate even comes in a nice blue folder with "US House of Representatives" embossed on the cover. No readily apparent manufacturer noted on the flags label, but a google search of the slogan on the box leads me to Flag Zone, and their site was even nice enough to have a photo of their box.

    Thansk, Nick.

According to the program, that particular flag was donated to the charity by the Congressperson.

Seems fitting for a flag collection to have a flag that came from the government, if only for a few fleeting seconds use.

I agree. My first Capitol flag was flown on July 4, 1976. I also had one flown on June 14, 1977 for the Bicentennial of Flag Day. Most recently I had a flag flown on the 50-th Anniversary of the 50-star flag on July 4, 2010.

Of course, I had to pay for the flags myself, but they are quite a bargain.
