Flag lighting problem...

recognizable with that lighting is it OK to fly the flag that way ?
Nothing I have read talks about individuals flying the flag with or with
out lighting. You know if you can tell it is the American flag then
there must be enough light to fly the flag. I know you have many e-mails
to address but I hope you have the time to give your opinion on this
lighting problem.
Thank You

The Flag Code states that "when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness." "Proper illumination" is generally taken to mean lit so it is easily visible, not merely recognizable, and is applicable to flying the flag anywhere, even at a private residence.
If you have a porch light or some other means of lighting the place the flag is flying, that would be appropriate, but unless the street lamp is very close to your home, I would recommend taking the flag down at night rather than accidentally direspecting it.
