Flag pole position for honor wall

WE are placing the American flag and the flags for the military in front of an honor wall in the shape of a triangle. The question is does the American flag go at the point with the military flags back to the wall or do you place the American flag in front of the wall and the military flags away from the wall also in the shape of a triangle. Different people have suggested both ways but was wondering if there is a correct way. Thanks

if the flag poles were all in a straight line the US flag would go on the left as u look at the wall

however your flagpoles are in a triangle bringing the center pole out away from the wall (if i understood you question properly!!)
so the prominent position in this case is front - so thats where the US flag goes - on the center pole and your military flags on the 2 poles near the wall
