| Hi, MKS! This is a great question and very relevant to so many Americans. Proper flag etiquette dictates that the American flag should be lit at all times. If the flag is to be displayed 24 hours a day, it should be properly lit after dusk. If proper lighting is not available, the flag should be lowered at dusk and then raised again the next day at sunrise. I hope this clears up any confusion!
