Flags as Art
Today was a rainy day here in Cincinnati, so I spent part of the day in the art museum. Now, I'm not going to talk about every little use of flags as part of a painting. (These figure prominently in pictures of nautical subjects and military subjects)
What caught my eye was an American flag on display. Even from a distance I could tell something was unusual about it. Upon getting a much closer look, I could tell the flag was made entirely out of those little plastic toy army men glued together. Sometime during the process the army men were painted so that from a distance and even up close, it looks like a flag. When reading the item description, it told of several thousand of the army men were used, and like all good art, it left it up to the viewer to interpret. It did, just casually mention, that the piece was 5'x9.5' and as if to drive the point home, pointed out that is the same size as a standard burial flag.
Unfortunately, due to museum rules, I couldn't snag you a photograph.
