What is the correct etiquette when another country's flag is displayed, but not the American Flag?

This is not addressed by the United States Flag Code, but some state laws prohibit the dispaly of certain foreign flags. Please realize that many of those laws date from the early 20th Century when anarchy, socialism, and facism were the political terrors of the day and citizens had to be "protected" from these ideologies.Needless to say, none of those laws would stand up in court.

Many people fly international flags. Use common sense and try to show the same respect as you would to the US flag, as long as you get no objections from your neighbors, express yourself. If they do object, use the opportunity to open a dialog on why you are flying that flag.If they REALLY object, then you may wish to reconsider your motives for flying that flag.

It offends me! People that fly a foreign flag in place of the American Flag.
My wife will not allow me to put up another flag pole. So I have to make do. No offense is intended.
I made some comments on this issue in one of my first posts to the forum:
Flying Another Country's Flag in USA
I just went back and reread it, it I still think that it is basically valid. The bottom line is that flying a foreign flag in the USA is not necessarily inappropriate or unpatriotic. As with many symbols, it all depends on the context.

I have *3* flagpoles, but sometimes even that's not enough. Tomorrow (25 April) is ANZAC day in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, Freedom Day in Portugal, Liberation Day in Italy and Flag Day in the Faroe Islands. I'll need to have a "makup day" on Tuesday!
