The lyrics given on the site don't include the "verse."

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:

God bless America (and so on)

    Thanks, Jennie.

Did you know "God Bless America" is often considered our unofficial national anthem? It was written in 1918 on Long Island by Irving Berlin and it wad first sung by Kate Smith on Armistice Day in 1938. It was an immediate success and has been popular with patriots ever since.

I'll never forget our local radio morning drive-time DJ's response to the end of Desert Storm. He said "Well, folks, it's over. Cue the fat lady," and played Kate Smith.

It's such a beautiful rendition. Sometimes the first is the best!
