| Hi! You can find the lyrics to "You're a Grand Old Flag" in many places on the Internet, including here: You're a Grand Old Flag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia YaGOF was originally written by George Cohan in 1906, for a stage musical about George Washington. His original title for it was "You're a Grand Old Rag," but he changed it because many people objected to calling the American flag a rag. The part that people usually sing (that begins "You're a Grand Old Flag/You're a high-flying flag") is actually the chorus. There are at least two verses, which not sung as often because the words are, well, a bit goofy. The chorus has "aged" fairly well, although I always gag a little on the line about "Where there's never a boast or brag." Not true, unfortunately . . . Peter Ansoff
