| Back in 2007, a Russian mini-submarine planted a titanium Russian flag on the Arctic Ocean floor at the North Pole. The meaning of this gesture was hotly debated at the time. However, nobody seems to have commented on the fact that the flag appears to be "flying" at half-staff: Russian Flag at North Pole.jpg I wonder what the symbolism is supposed to be? (-; Peter Ansoff
