| My husband and I are hanging an American flag and USMC flag from our porch on angled flag poles at our front entrance way. Which one should go on the right and which should go on the left. From the info i have gathered they would both be hung at the same hieght and the American flag would be to the right (looking at the house it would be on the left)...is this correct?? I know there are a lot of similar questions but I have been looking for an hour or so and haven't found the answer to this specific question. My husband wants to be 100% sure it is correct before hanging. Thanks.

| Greetings, Ertomaiko ! Welcome to the USA-Flag-Site forums ! YES! You and your husband are 100% CORRECT !!! As you (the observer) look at the front of your house, the American Flag should be on the LEFT (its own right as it "looks" out at you), and the USMC Flag would be on the (your) RIGHT (to the U.S. Flag's own left). Thank You (VERY Much!) for bringing your question to our forums !!! If there is anything else Flag-related that we can help you with, let us know ! Robin Hickman

| Hello, USMCCLuntz, Welcome to the forum! There are no particular rules about displaying the USMC flag on your house, except that it should be to the left (viewer's right) of the US flag if they are displayed side by side, and it should not be larger than the US flag. Obviously, it should be away from obstructions that would prevent it from flying freely (trees, etc.) Semper Fi, Peter Ansoff

| Are the conditions the same to display the USN flag with the US flag? Yes. They're basically the same for any flag that is displayed with the US flag. The only significant difference is that flags of other nations, and of international organizations such as the UN, should be at the same height as the US flag and approximately the same size. | My wife and I just bought a new house and I've already added a pole for the US flag. It's just a 45 degree cant hanging from the side of my home. I'll be adding a USMC flag here very shortly, but nobody locally sells the flags without having to order them special, so I have to order online. What is the protocol for half mast? The US Flag must always be either parallel or above any other flags. If the flags are mounted to the same point on the side of the home, once the US flag is lowered to half mast, it is now BELOW the USMC flag. Is this important? Edit: I r gud at spelling.
