Hi Grifaaay! Hang in there. The software is sometime quirky. It has happen to me a few times. By the way welcome!
Welcome, grifaay!
The forum has a spam filter that works very well, but occasionally snags a legitimate post for some mysterious reason. I try to check it at least once a day, and approve the real ones. Yours should be up in the forum now.
Best regards,

You're doing a great job Peter!
Thanks, csaanv! It's great to see the the forum is getting a steady stream of traffic, and regular contributions from you and other knowledgeable folks. There are lots of web sites devoted to the US flag and related subjects, but I truly think that the level of disucssion here is a cut above most of them. I hope that y'all agree.

Peter: I am new just today. I have not been on other such sites and yours is the first that I have even thought of joining. So far, I agree that it is a cut above. I hope to be able to learn from this site and maybe even offer info.
Would like to offer a reference that I like Honor the Flag! The United States Flag Code Annotated and Indexed by Whitney Smith of the Flag Research Center Winchester, Mass. 01890 USA. Basicallly, it is the Flag Code with annotated comments about the meaning of the sections, or at least a translation. You may already be aware of this reference but it may be helpful to others. I think it is about $10. It can be ordered from the web.

Greetings, Mike! Glad to have you aboard.
Honor the Flag is a good publication, but it was published in 1998 and is somewhat out-of-date. There have been several changes to the code since it was written, some of which have been discussed here in the forums. Off the top of my head, the most significant are the rules about use of the military salute and half-staffing for service members who die on active duty. Nevertheless, it is a good little book. I have a copy here on my shelf and refer to it often.
One of my dream projects is to compile an up-to-date version of the code, with annotations and historical background, and post it here on the front page of the forum. It would be particularly good to show the evolution of some of the sections over the years, and their roots in military and civilian usage. One of these days . . .
