How about a lighter side forum?
I was thinking about the recent appearance of political threads, and thinking that maybe a humor forum would be advisable to lighten the tone.
On the one hand, it would have to exclude partisan humor (at the expense of only one party).
On the other hand, nonpartisan humor (e.g. funny animal pictures) and maybe something linking to an evenhanded selection of editorial page cartoons might provide some needed relief from the political debate that seems to be making its way in now (and with the flag being so heavily involved in the current public discourse, it isn't surprising).
Maybe you could add a rule that if you want to post, for instance, something like my favorite conspiracy (our entire public discourse, both on the left and the right, has been taken over by satirists), you have to pick on both major parties equally.
Anyway, just a thought.
My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.

Re: How about a lighter side forum?
Hi there
We do have a rule here that we DON'T want this forum to be about polotics - unless it directly involves the US flag.
There is so many other places on the internet to talk about the rights and wrongs of poloticians and parties and so on.
I do agree of the notion of having a lighthearted thread.
Unfortunately it is a tad difficult for us to change the front page.
I have contact with a couple of people that have posted on the site via yahoo messenger so we can chat and socialize on there etc.

Re: How about a lighter side forum?
I belong to a number of other forums where they have allowed jokes. 2 of the 5 stopped them after things got offensive, which they invariably do.
There are forums for jokes, politics and religion. Keep to the theme of the forum. It is what distinguishes it from the rest.
