Id of 48 star flag with only 3 stripes
I have a patron asking about a 48 star flag with three stripes - red, white, red. The star pattern is typical for a 48 star and is located in the upper left corner. It has grommets for hanging. It is over 14 feet in length. My first though was a bunting of some sort. Has anyone heard of this design associated with military, state, or veterans? Thanks

Re: Id of 48 star flag with only 3 stripes
You are correct that bunting "pulldowns" had a square of 48 stars with r-w-r stripes hanging from one end and the heading/grommets on the other. As far as a 3 stripe flag with a CANTON of 48 stars the only thing that comes to mind is the First National Flag of the Confederacy after they win the Civil War and Arizona and New Mexico join the CSA. Of course you may have to question if Virginia gets to reclaim their western counties... Interesting concept!
