(If these forums had an emoticon of a face with a hand slapping its forehead, THAT'S the one that would be placed here in lieu of this parenthetical statement!) Robin PS. Actually, I almost mentioned the "FREE SHIPPING!!!". .

| . Hey, JimmieJoe !!! You're Welcome !!! In addition to including a Flag in your display, you might want to consider adding other "period" pieces such as patriotic postcards and sheet music. I'm not an antique Flag "collector" or anything like that so I'll let those who ARE advise you on what kind of fabrics, components, and construction details to look for in a genuine 45-Star Flag. Having written THAT, I feel I must add this little tidbit. I know it should go without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway : The ONLY fibers, fabrics, and threads used back in those days were "NATURAL" ones! Synthetic (man-made) fibers and fabrics had not yet been invented. For example, NYLON wasn't invented until 1935, and patented in 1937. POLYESTER cloth wasn't invented until about 1941 (I think). So don't ANYBODY fall for a claim of a "vintage" or "antique" Flag being made of "synthetic" materials !!! Also, I don't think that the wide-spread "standardization" of the placement and arrangement of the Stars in the Flag's "Union" occurred until the creation of the "National Flag Code" on June 14th, 1923. The U.S. Army and/or Navy might have had something along those lines in place, but I don't think that their "regulations" were in general practice. So if you're looking for a Flag that was made BEFORE the adoption of the "National Flag Code" in 1923, don't be surprised at the many variations in the arrangements of the Stars in the Flags' Unions that you'll find!!! Anyway, JimmieJoe, Good Luck in your search for the "perfect" 45-Star Flag for your display !!! Robin Hickman Eugene, Oregon, USA .

| . There is an eBay store that has a NEW hand-made COTTON 45-Star Flag for $59.00 (+$6.94 S&H). STORE HOME : http://stores.ebay.com/Historic-American-Flags 45-Star Flag Page : http://cgi.ebay.com/COTTON-Spanish-American-War-45-Star-American-Flag-/400118375687?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d28e9 e507 I don't know if they can make smaller Flags (less than 3'x5'). Also, they offer a Flag with a "BLANK" Union that they'll customize to your order, at least as far as the number of Stars, maybe even the Stars' pattern. I can't actually vouch for him/her/them as I've never bought any of their products. Robin .

| I sure hope these 45-star flags, and others with less than 50, are clearly marked "REPRODUCTION" to be in compliance with the federal Hobby Protection Act which was passed to protect coin collectors but later modified to cover political items, of which flags clearly qualify. nick

| The problem with those cheaper repos is that they embroider the stars and that was rarely done if at all on pre-50 star flags. So you are getting a less than historical correct item to begin with.
