Default Is flying the Gadsden appropriate today?

I sell flags and lately I have been selling a ton of Gadsden flags. I asked what they are doing with them, one guy said it's a statement saying we will not be pushed around any more just like 1776.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Another trend I'm seeing is lately I've had over a dozen request for POW flags that have the words and picture in red. I sell Annin (who designed the POW flag) I also sell Valley Forge, CF and Eder and none of them make the red ensignia. I'm assuming they are coming from over seas. It's mostly motorcycle guys who are asking.
I realize the POW is not copywrited, but do you think it's ok to change the color? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!

Hi, Eddie (Uncle Flag) !

QUOTE : "I sell flags and lately I have been selling a ton of Gadsden flags. I asked what they are doing with them, one guy said it's a statement saying we will not be pushed around any more just like 1776."

They are using the Gadsden Flag, and the Culpeper Militia Flag, the Gonzoles Flag ("Come and Take It"), and other Flags, to exercise their right to "Free Speech" and show their displeasure ("protest") with the way things are going right now.

On a personal note : I would hope that they are flying their choice of "protest" Flags ALONG WITH their American Flags, and NOT flying their "protest" Flags INSTEAD OF, or IN PLACE OF, their American Flags !!!

I don't believe that "Patriotism" and "Politics" are interchangeable, and I try to never confuse the two.

Eddie, I've been actively shopping for flags for the past five years or so. Almost all of the POW/MIA Flags I've run across have been the "usual" Black flag with the White imprint (Black & White, or B&W). I have, from time to time, seen some of the Black flags with a RED imprint. I never understood why there were TWO different types, or why the color Red was chosen. When I heard someone refer to it as "BLOOD RED", then the little light bulb shone above my head and I thought, "Ah,ha!"

I'm NOT saying that's what going on with all that. It's just when I heard the term "Blood Red" used to describe the Black & Red POW/MIA Flag, it made a certain amount of sense to me.

As far as changing the color, I would have to say that it's up to you. You can quietly stick with the B&W one, and when someone asks for the B&R one refer them to another retailer. You can quietly add the B&R one to your inventory, and when someone asks for the B&R one, sell them one.

ME? I'm a bit of a traditionalist at times. IF I owned and/or flew a POW/MIA Flag, it would probably be the Black & White one !
