Leading up to St. Paddy's Day

I like to switch between my two Irish flags in the days leading up to St. Patrick's day. Of course my neighbors think I am nuts.

The reinforced corners on the national flag are a nice touch for that stress point.

I have the top one, need to get the bottom one. I think I may be reaching a level of flag snobbery .. I have the national flag of every nation I have been in, but most are the deep discount poly cotton, I'm thinking of slowly over time, replacing them with Nyl-Glo or similar.

I'll have my poly Ireland flag up on Thursday. Since my two mounts are of uneven height, protocol dictates I replace my American flag for the day.

Here is my setup from some year past. Of note, my Irish flag, while decidedly of budget touristy quality, was in fact purchased in Ireland, most likely not made there, but purchased there.

Cincinnati had our St. Patricks Day parade, of interest to this group may be the Color Guard:

Of course that was the main color guard, just about every organization in the parade had their own color guard, and with parades come politicians, and with politicians comes flag waving. Plenty of flag photos in that set.

Anyway - now I have to write it all over again, so it won't be as good.

I was saying I though the reinforced corners on your national flag are a nice touch. I have a national flag, but not a flag like the bottom one. Need to get one.

I have an (cheap tourist grade) national flag of Ireland, that I fly on St. Patrick's Day. What makes the flag have value for me, is that I bought it in Ireland. (I may have mentioned that I try to buy the flag of every nation I visit, up to 8 now!)

Anyway here is my setup from some year:

Then I mentioned we had our St. Patricks Day parade last weekend. Here was the main color guard:

Of course, every organization brought at least one Irish flag, and most brought a 'courtesy' American flag as well. Even a few Ohio flags.

So if you look at Flickr: Coasterville's Photostream there are plenty of flags in that photostream from the parade. Of course with parades come politicians, and with politicians comes flag waving.

David, this was a custom made flag I had made by the local flagmaker (US Flag & Signal) here in town. Years ago, before children when I had expendable income I had a number of flags made with those reinforce patches. This is part of my flag snobbery I guess. Also this flag conforms to the official specs of the Irish Republic flag of 1:2.

I really like your Bragh-less flag... er, ah, I mean the one in the second photograph. I saw a larger version of this flag on ebay a while back but the bidding exceeded my range. I believe they are quite rare since the ROI became independent.
