| I work for the maintenance dept in a hospital and we were wondering how long a flag stays at half mast after the death of a police officer, fire fighter or paramedic/emt. ive found info on national politicians and military personnel but nothing on local service men/women. can anyone help me with this?

| Putting the flag at half staff officially is set by the governor of the state, or by the president If you are wanting to put your own flag at half staff for the death of somebody from the police fire department etc, you can do so at your own discression, but remember others passing by may get confused at to why it is at half staff, if its not been ordered to be so officially
