Looks to me like they just chaged the perspective: insead of a side view it is now a top view

LOL! Nick. I gather from the articles I have read that the original flag was based on one of the political parties who were in power at the time so the present government wanted to "mix it up" with this new flag with the switching of the black and red bars and the new white sun device. Already it is being contested in the courts.

Thanks for the head's up. Now I just have to keep my eyes peeled for the miniflag dealers to update their flags. That so I can update my flags of the world set.


Seeing the comment that it is currently being tried in the court system, I won't hold my breath on getting that anytime soon.

The African flags seem to change quite a bit with the various governments and regimes.

Right from the very beginning we see variations. The proportions of the actual flag are more elongated than in the drawing, and the two "divots" in the sunrays to the right and left of the central disc are missing in the actual flag.
I wonder if Malawi's Betsy Ross made those suggestions?

Great observations Nick! Wikipedia has already dropped the earlier rendition and adopted this version.
