Down through the ages Flags have represented all different types of people, groups, armies, countries, etc.
Flags, as a manner of "visual shorthand", have always been and still are a very quick, simple, and powerful way of telling others who you are.
FOR EXAMPLE :
A quick viewing of your three sample Flags shows us and tells us EXACTLY WHO & WHAT you are.
Have a nice day . . . . .

Robin,
I agree with your assessment regarding the individual who chose to post only three flags. However, calling certain flags "my flags" does not necessarily have political connotations. For example, I have these two flags in my collection of over one thousand:

Those flags are reviled by many because of the régimes they represented, yet they are excellent examples of vexillography. They are in my collection because they are antique examples of flags that have been superceded. I do not have them because they represent my attitudes or conviction, although I must admit I do not display them a whole he%& of a lot!
I consider them of no more or less importance to my collection than these flags

which have also long since passed into history.

Nick - inteesting Nepal flag (I'm guessing) with the facial expressions of the 'sun' and 'moon' . I had to get out my own Nepal flag as I don't recall seeing those, and they are, as I suspected absent on mine.
The middle on of the second group of flags, is that from the old Austria-Hungary empire before that got split apart around the time of WW1? I'm again guessing based on the flag I bought in Hungary with the crown device in the middle.

The Nepalese flag wasn't officially adopted until December of 1962, at which time they simplified the flag by omitting the facial features. You also correctly identified the flag of Austria-Hungary which ceased to exist when WW I ended (both the Empire and its flag.)
Any guess as to the third flag? Anyone?
By the way, all three flags were made during the periods they represented their countries.

True. But I think "Douger", who started this thread, meant his "My Flags" post & pics to have entirely "personal" connotations, if you know what I mean...
GO DUCKS !!!
