Default Need help Identifying a flag

I Need help Identifying a flag. I do believe it's maybe a copy of a civil war flag. My guess it's made of wool. it's a blue flag with a white canton in the upper left corner. The canton is divide in 4 equal parts by red vertical and horizontal stripes, in that upper left corner there is a green pine tree. Can any one help?

Yes, this is the so called Bunker Hill flag which was recently shown to be bogus. Maybe the NAVA guys can fill us in on the details.

Well, it appears that other than "artistic license", we're talking about the same flag, right?

There's a nice little article about the "BLUE Bunker Hill Flag" over at the CRW Flags website. It's part of their "Flags Of The World" (FOTW) section.

The article was written by "some guy" by the name of Nick Artimovich.

Given that there are sometimes differences, large and small, in the artistic rendering of flags, you might try "Googling" the search term (including the quotation marks) "Bunker Hill Flag" and select the "IMAGES" option. You'll find that there are different shades of blue, different sized & shapes of trees, etc. Maybe you'll find something closer to your flag there?

What would REALLY help us help you to identify your flag is to take some PICTURES of it and POST THEM here !!!

You mean you actually believe that guy?

Nick A.

ps. Let me second Robin's suggestion that you post a photo (use "Post Reply" to have access to the "Attachment" paper clip, not "Quick Reply.") A wool flag generally indicates greater age than a cotton flag (cotton and nylon were by far the most common flag fabrics during the USA Bicentennial of 1976.) You might have a WW II era example, or maybe even one from the Sesquicentennial of 1926! PLEASE also tell us if there is any info printed, stamped, sewn, or written on the heading.

Here is a pic of the oldest Pine Tree Flag ever discovered:

It is described in this Sotheby's auction catalog description:
