Beleive it or not my flagpole arrived at 11:53AM. It is the one that was deleivered to the wrong person on the 2nd. I called Sunsetter and they were very happy!!! They were getting ready to ship me a replacement pole for the one that went to the wrong place.

Well the saga of the travling flagpole is finished for now. Hopefully I can get it installed in the ground in the next few days. Later I will post a picture, if I ever get my camera fixed.

I got the new flagpole installed today. I ended up using 1 50lb bag of quick set concrete, and 2 60lb bags of regular concrete. I then spread white marble chips around the pole. Looks good!!! maybe I will get my camera fixed so I can take some pictures and post them.

Congratulations! If you want that concrete to get stronger, keep it damp and don't let it dry out. Concrete cures (increases in strength) as long as moisture is present. When it dries, the chemical reaction stops. Concrete reaches its "design" strength after 28 days, but should be strong enough to fly a flag in a light breeze after a few days.

Thanks Nick, I will keep the concrete damp as best as I can. At least my flagpole is rather lite. It is the Sunsetter 20' telescoping pole. It weighs about 16lbs. It sets in a 22" sleve in the ground. When I removed what was left of my old pole, it took me and my friend almost 2 hours to get it out of the ground. I had frogotten that I put 3 pieces of rebar straight into the ground when I installed it back in 1976. The hole was only about 24" deep, but the rebar went down another 3 1/2'. Now that was fun!!!

Unfortunately, since the American Flag is supposed to be posted at "it's own right" (the viewers' left), it looks like you'll have to either MOVE your new Flagpole all the way to our (the "viewers") left (the Flag's own right), OR.... MOVE your HOUSE all the way to the Flag's own left (viewers' right) !!!

Not to worry! All is good. I just flipped Greengo's house around so the flag is on the correct side!! It's not as easy in West Virginia as you would think. Very rocky terrain.
