If you want to see examples of historic flags that display some of the multitude of star patterns that existed before President Taft first established the practice of specifying the arrangement of stars in 1912, please visit my Flickr photostream: Flickr: nicka21045's Photostream I agree with this Wikipedia article that the 51-star flag will probably have 6 rows, alternating 9 stars and 8 stars (9-8-9-8-9-8) File:US 51 Star possible Flag.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It is identical to the US Navy's preferred pattern for the 45-star flag (1896-1908) with one additional star on each row.
