Question New Member Question

I recently came acroos an old flag that I had received while assigned to USCGC Sherman in 1970. This Union Jack is about 34" x 22" Defiance ANNIN 100% Cotton. The colors are a bit faded and the white is a bit yellowed. Is there any way to properly clean the flag and perhaps brighten the white without doing more damage. The flag was used so I am sure it was exposed to sun and salt water. We are haveing a ships reunion in September and I would like to display the flag at the event. Thank you.
Wil
