Question Newbie with one question...

The reason I joined was to find out something. I'm a bit confused. I have in the past put out an American flag on special occasions such as holidays. I haven't put up a pole since moving to my current address. I recently returned from a visit to Israel. While there I purchased an Israeli flag. I've just put it up on a 66 foot tv antenna on my house. I want to fly it to Bless America. I felt led to do this after seeking the Lord's will. Now I'm faced with questions of legality. I am for certain not anti American as I come from a long line of men who fought in major wars for our freedoms. My Bible tells me that those who Bless Israel, will be Blessed and those who curse her shall be cursed. So in honor of Rosh Hoshanna and Yom Kippur and Sukkot I have braved the climb to the top of this tower to display the flag of God's chosen country. In so doing, I am trying to bring Blessings back to this country that so many people here want to trash. I do not wish to be illegal or disrepectful in any way. Your thoughts?

Hello, Bob, welcome!

There's nothing wrong with flying a foreign national flag -- I do it all the time at my house to recognize national holidays, etc. A few states have laws on the books dealing with this, but I've never heard of them being enforced in recent times.

You might be interested in this thread:

which discussed the subject in more detail.

Best regards,

Peter Ansoff

Hi new to this forum but I have only one response which I believe to be bible that no flag can be flown higher then the American Flag on our soil. To be on the same level is ok but never higher. You should always fly the American flag at the same time as the flag of your heritage. You see people doing this all over the country.Example Look at the UN where all the countries flags are flown. hope it helps a bit to ease your mind, Phil

The United States Flag Code specifically allows the UN flag to fly above all national flags of the member states at the UN HQ in NYC:

(c) No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the
same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of
America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains
at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during
church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall
display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or
international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior
prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United
States at any place within the United States or any Territory or
possession thereof: Provided, That nothing in this section shall
make unlawful the continuance of the practice heretofore followed
of displaying the flag of the United Nations in a position of
superior prominence or honor, and other national flags in positions
of equal prominence or honor, with that of the flag of the United
States at the headquarters of the United Nations.

(Quote from the United States Code, Volume 4)

U shouldn't feel guilty of urself. But u should remember one thing that The Great America is on top of the world and that's why the great American flag will always be on top of the world. America or its flag can never back down before anything except GOD. GOD, Who made America so beautifully and gave it the respect to stay at the top of the world till the end of the earth.
