My company flies a series of flags in front of our building, (US, state & region). They do follow proper etiquette in arrangement, lighting and height.

Unfortunately, now that we are flying them at half staff, our flags are being torn and tattered by the trees around the flagpoles. These flags are only two months old, but will now have to be replaced.

I haven't been able to find anything about flag placement and nearby obstructions. Is there some sort of documentation about this that I can send to my employer?

The flagpoles are right outside my window so I see them everyday.
