    Default Patriotic Clothing in stores

I have a question about the flag as a part of clothing. I apologize in advance if it's been asked very often.

I've been in stores such as Beall's and Old Navy and Goody's, etc. that sell shirts with American patriotic motifs. One that I actually purchased from Beall's was of an American on a horse (I assume either John Wayne or Ronald Reagan) with the flag flying behind him. This picture is repeated on the shirt, it's not a large picture, but rather a pattern. I'd like to wear it on 9/11.

Others have guitars or motorcycles in painted in 'flag' colors with the words "American Tradition" underneath. Old Navy of course sells the t-shirts with the flag in the center front and the logo of Old Navy and the current year underneath.

Can these be worn without violating the code?

    Thank you.

Sometimes it helps to have an image:

This is NOT the shirt from Beall's I mentioned above (it has boats, not cowboys), but is similar:

Bealls Florida Department Store - Mens and Womens Clothing, Shoes, Swimwear, Lingerie and Gifts.
