People wrapped in the flag
In the Olimpic Games, I have seen our American athletes drape and wrap themselves in the American Flag after winning an event. To me this is disrespectful of Our Flag. I think its great that the athlete wants to show their pride in there Country, however, the flag is not a piece of clothing and should be carried properly. Am I wrong in this matter? Please let me know what you think. With the 2008 Summer Games to begin 08-08-08, we need to inform our U.S. teams if it is against the American Flag Code if the flag is not to be worn like a coat.
Thanks

Re: People wrapped in the flag
hi there- welcome to USA flag site
my own personal view - having been born and raised in a country which has no flag code (england) and having seen countless people wearing flags when our sporting teams are playing- flags worn as skirts, as drapes, as capes- i do not see wearing a flag as being disrespectful
i actually see it as being the opposite- i see it as respectful and showing your love for your country so much that you would drape yourself in the flag. - its patriotic!
so long as the flag isnt being dragged along the ground whilst being worn i dont see any problem
i will openly admit that i often wear the US flag when i'm inside the house. its patriotic and it's warm! - i love the USA and i love the flag and i like to be close to the flag.
i say - let the olympic teams go on wearing the flag! - our UK teams also wear our flag and here people are aswell!
