If you want to display the flag on your door, on a wall, or any flat surface, the flag can be hung either horizontally or vertically. Since you're talking about a door, I assume you're wanting to hang it vertically. That means you'll need to position the flag so the stars are in the top left hand corner, with the long stripes in the top right hand corner.

If you want to hang the flag in a window, the flag should be positioned so the stars are in the top left to a person viewing the flag from the street.
